Children’s Art

We are all creators–artists.  Our pictures speak louder than words; they are a way to communicate our love.  Whether we draw, paint or sculpt, our artwork expresses our inner gift, offering it to the world.

“When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open, and love steps forth to heal everything in sight.”

– Michael Bridge

Children’s Art

Children naturally express themselves through art.  So here is a chance to give and receive through the art of children.

  • Decorate your home with the art of your children.
  • Have a bulletin board where you post recent art–in home and office.
  • Create cards and presents from your children’s art.  Share with relatives and friends, with coworkers and caregivers.
  • Help your children write books and illustrate them.  Help them to create in different ways with different materials.
  • Look at the art in books and in the world.  Talk about it with your children.  What do they like?  What does it mean to them?
  • Reinforce your children’s power and self-esteem by asking them about their art, avoiding value judgments.  Focus on how hard they have tried, the colors they have used, their ideas and intent.
  • Ask your children to share their ideas so that you learn from them and give them value.
  • Visits museums–especially Children’s Museums, many of which are Hands On Children’s Museums.
  • Most of all have fun and enjoy each other.

Let them know how much they are loved.  It is what we all need to know.
